Souris
Souris (2006 population: 1,232) is a Canadian port town located in northeastern Kings County, Prince Edward Island.
Souris started as a fishing village, founded by the Acadians in 1727, and gradually growing over the years to become the largest town in the eastern end of the Island. The economy of the area is fueled by farming and the fisheries, with tourism growing quickly as well.
It is known that Souris was infested by several mice plagues throughout the 18th century and that the town is named after the French word for mouse.
Souris hosts a ferry terminal from which the Coopérative de transport maritime et aérien (CTMA) operates MV Madeleine to Quebec's Magdalen Islands
