Hmmmm what would I change about PEI?

...I'd try to make the Island into a gentler land. A land not saturated by the mostpoisonous chemicals known to man.

...I'd make sure the education offered on PEI was equal to or superior to other provinces.

...I'd make real changes aimed at improving the scenery on the island...instead of making cans illegal, I'd allow them with a deposit on them. I'd allocate 1% of the tax collected on Fastfood to operate a program where traffic and other offenders do roadcleanup and other "public benefit" activities in lieu of jail or fines.

...I'd tell Islanders they no longer have to be second class citizens. In the Information age, PEI no longer has to think of itself as Isolated.

...I'd promote the idea "you attract more flies with honey". Tourists hear we are friendly...show them how friendly we can be, regardless of their colour or gender preference.

...I'd promote organic agriculture. The Island should not be so dependent on tubers that require gallons of poison per acre.

...Finally, I'd stop the Seal Slaughter that makes us look like barbaric cavemen...all over less revenue to the province and the fishermen then the revenue collected at just 1 VLT terminal.

Bye Bye VLTs, hello addiction rehab.
Bye Bye slum lords, hello affordable and clean housing.
Bye Bye hitch hiking, hello province wide transit.
Bye Bye tax on tax, hello fair taxation.

I'd also see a benefit to:
- Hemp industry on the island
- Free access to fast and free wireless Internet
- STD testing centre
- PUBLIC Health Care
- Higher fines for littering and incentives for people who rat on litter-bugs
- Reintroduction of the debt orderly management program
- Development of Retirement Communities
-- Advertising these communities to aging Canadians
- Laws to restrict the sprawl of our municipalities to preserve our island beauty
- Try to finish the Cornwall Bypass before 2030
- Respect the privacy of islanders by adapting Ontario's Consumer Protection Act

I could go on an on. Basicly, the quality of life on PEI is not getting any better and I find it hard to dream up a future on Prince Edward Island. I do love this place.

I'd put an end to the practice of political patronage, therefore stopping all the mass hirings/firings anytime a new party is voted in.

I'd try to deliver incentives for immigrants from other nations and other provinces to move to PEI. Not only would they add to the workforce and population, they'd also help to bring in much needed diversity, which could help Islanders get over their typical narrow and small-mindedness. Of course, the big problem with immigrants is that the locals don't accept them or hire them, forcing them to move elsewhere.

The voting system would be changed from FPTP to PR.

I'd give big corporations strong tax incentives for them to move to the Island and set up shop there, and hopefully provide a lot of much needed jobs. (Provided the locals actually take the jobs. )

I would remove about 20 shades of the green. All the different greens are to confusing.

Ok......i would set up an area for bands to come in and play... no cost to get in, and just basic rules to keep it family based. Where people come to picnic and listen to the bands or singers . Have it organized so that there is no overlap ....maybe even comedy night, but again family based.

I would make sure someone is selling licorice ice cream in the stores ( this is a major one )

I would have freecycle at the flea markets. Where things are free, no cost to get in, and no cost to take things....( this would have to be long term because everyone would take everything in the beginning )

I would have classes on crafts and trades for free, much like community school, but on a larger scale.

I would have more things organized for our teens. Even just a place that brings them in , involves them in things, and shows them how much value they have. ( wow......um...this ones even more major than the ice cream )

I would have people involved in helping our seniors. Right now we could have a group of people going and cleaning out their flowerbeds, or fixing things around their house, etc. Maybe someone could bake for them in smaller portions and freeze it so they are having healthy meals cooked for them if they cant do it themselves. If they are in a seniors place, just sit and spend time with them.

I would insist that our hardware stores carry wood pellets in the summertime too, even if they have to bring in a truck load of 22 pallets at a time...

I would set up a singles group that meets every few weeks so they can go out to awesome events like bowling or trivia (...oops.......someone is already going to get this going soon i heard ;) )

I hate politics.......so i would just ignore them. :D

I would organize a place that gives free plants, so when people clean out some of the flowerbeds they have they can have a swap . ...( right now i use freecycle for this )

more to come.........im sure ...............

Always wanted my living room to face south.. So simpling turning the whole Island 180 degrees would fix that problem seeing as it now faces north.

Alberta jobs in PEI.

By that, I mean either jobs that pay a rediculous amount of money while requiring no post secondary education, or, jobs that offer training.

lol ya, and everyone else probably is thinking " she needs to go back to ' the cave ' lol

ok.....i would have a coupon trade place, where you can drop off coupons that you have or pick up the ones you would like to use. This would have to be monitored because some would just be takers....

I would have a construction yard with the same idea, where you drop off things you wont need ( like old siding or plywood etc ) and you can pick up things of the same value for free. ( maybe a cost to get in because you would probably need to pay someone to monitor it......no one has THAT much free time )
This would also include dropping off old wood that people are cutting off of their trees so that the ones burning with wood could use it instead of sending it to the compost place. ( what a waste )

The teens........it keeps coming back to the teens....this is just too big to even fathom ......if our teens realized their value, the island would change just by watching them lead......they have so much to offer, but feel like they are just on their own in society ( not all, but many ) if we could give them the reality of how important they are many would not make the mistakes they will make later on in life...teach them their worth....love them where they are....... ( sorry.....but this one is a huge one for me...)

have a system where the retired men and women teach the trades to our kids, we are skipping too much by moving from grandparents, and expecting our kids to learn all they can from schools. Have the retired seniors come in and pass on their knowledge to everyone else. Then we all benefit. Seniors seem to have more wisdom in what matters to the younger generation, they know what works and what does not. This is why grandparents are so different with their own grandkids than they were with their kids.
( watch kreskin with this one.......i dont know how senior he is ( just that hes older than me ) ....but he shows it.....he does not go off into rants like the younger ones do.....he is calm.....and when someone is off in a rant, he steps in and is the peacemaker. He is at a level.....a stable area.....that comes with age and wisdom......) we need that for our kids....

ok......thats all i got.....for now

PEI itself, I wouldn't change a thing

It's the government that ignores it, and the people who abuse it that need to change, like the littering, etc.

my 2 cents

A Taco Bell would be good. And an Arby's :D And the fact that if you're pregnant you can't find out the sex of your baby. I think that's pretty dumb.

hmm so if we can have a casino.. ya ya its not completely there yet but wait for it.. lol why can't we have a strip club..

hmmm why can't we have a bio fuel service station that sells all blended gasoline , biodiesel and blended bio and diesel

hmm how about chain gangs for they people that serve 2 years less a day.. put em to work instead of just being leaches on society

how about makin some of them 80 zones to 90's...

how about since we have tractors 100% bigger then our forefathers we can stop plowing up the land in the fall so all the top soil doesn't choke our brooks, streams, and ponds..

and maybe like our forefathers we can learn what a hedge row is again, and make our land is more protected form the effects of nature
