"trilogy about a frightening man-made apocalypse. The first in the series, "The Passage," was an instant bestseller in 2010 winning widespread praise from critics and a worldwide legion of fans."
Book One:The Passage ..its a long read with many characters and subplots that sometimes seem confusing ,but you know its going to come together somewhere. The end of the world was only the beginning
Book Two:The Twelve"continues this epic tale following the cliffhangar at the end of "The Passage". Cronin again mixes and matches as he skips back and forth through time filling in gaps and fleshing out the backstory first presented in "The Passage" Book Three:City of Mirrors ..release date 2014! Ridley Scott (Robin Hood, Gladiator) walked away with the rights, and a theater release is rumored for 2013.
I ate these two very large books up in a non stop reading frenzy!..but now have to wait for the third one.Anyone else read them yet?( I loved second book!)

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world. "Read this book and the ordinary world disappears"--STEPHAN KING

I really enjoyed the series too! Can't wait for the third book! It was a really good read and a nice change from the usual sparkly/horny vampire books that are out there these days!

I found that once I started reading The Passage, I was totally captivated. I loved the characters, and the story line was so different from most sci-fi stories I've read. I really loved these books!
Warning though - this is the first series of books that actually gave me nightmares while reading them.
