The Acadian Bus Lines company is being forced to shut down its operations because its union demanded too much from a service that was losing money. The company actually flat out said they're willing to operate at a loss, but not a significant loss. When the union continued to give unreasonable demands the company packed up and left. Now Trius is starting up a new Maritime Bus service and the union from Acadian is coming back to complain that Trius isn't making the same mistakes that shut down the previous service. How does anyone take the union seriously when they not only got their own members laid off but now they're trying to prevent another company from hiring staff and filling the void?

Truis shouldnt be allowed to operate another bus service until they can get the one here in Ctown working well without any help from the Cities / Towns that pay big money to have it.. they wanted to run the city busses they should do so without constant help from goverenment and if they cannot do so then turn it over to the City/ Province and let them run it...

As for the union I see what they are saying if Truis could do it using smaller busses why couldnt Acadian Bus Lines do this..They ( Acadia ) just wanted out is all.... They got to make themselves look good by sayin we are willing to do this or that.. Makin the union look bad...

I don't know of a single public transit system anywhere that operates without government subsidy. Do you?

The nature of the public transit system is that it is so inexpensive that all people can afford to utilize it. That's economically impossible unless the government provides a subsidy. As someone who never uses public transit, I'd be happier with my money in my pocket rather than give it to Trius. But that's the government/city making dumb choices to have everything major cities have without having the people major cities have.

I think transit is a very needed system. I also think more promotion needs to be done to promote it and I don't think Trius is too interested in it succeeding as of yet as can still suck on the gov't tit. Then when it runs dry, they will make a big push for users.

Please tell me you are not serious as to let the government to run the bus service.I along with others would flat out consider what is said by you to be held in contempt of logic in court.

I'm quite certain that Trius also runs the Moncton bus service. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok popeonarope you are right about the goverenment running the service, though I do think that there should be a Transit Authority to at least over see what Trius is doing with the service.. I have known people that have taken the bus and they have told me that the bus system doesnt go up to the top of Norwood Rd. for example though it is suppose to go up.. They turn after they come off the overpass and go up to Northridge Parkway.. Complaints have fallen on deaf ears with the office staff...
