I've heard rumors that there are several prostitutes working in PEI and that at least a few of them rob and blackmail their clients for more money. Has anyone else heard a similar tale? I don't understand why the police aren't able to quell this type of criminality while it is in its infancy. Where is the media on this?
Or is it just another baseless rumour?

Its the worlds oldest profession and goes on in most places in Canada. I think its a very small problem here and I think police have better things to do.
AS in any underground activity , I'm sure there are lots of cases of people being ripped off ..I.E drug deals
As for the Media .. would you want to be going to them if you got ripped off by a prostitute

Or is it just another baseless rumour? Quell what criminality? Lets create a massive sting operation to quell something that probably doesn't actually exist. The media is busy reporting on much more important items...like little old ladies getting denied access to Tim Hortons drivethu's on their motorized scooters.

Until someone actually goes to the police to report being blackmailed I doubt they would spend their resources investigating this type of thing.
I assume the criminality you speak of is the blackmailing part right? Prostitution isn't illegal.

Prostitution is alive and well in Charlottetown. There are junkies on the street and organized whorehouses. Anything you want, you can get it here.
