Well, we have pack racing again. I suppose that if one is more a fan of demolition derbies than racing, then you'd be happy. Even Dale Jr, a master of pack racing, said after the race that he has had enough of that kind of racing.

I am glad that when I went to Talladega last year, I got to see the "tandem" form of racing on a superspeedway ... only a couple of minor one-car spins/crashes, constant racing excitment and the closest finish in NASCAR history.

On the upside, Kenseth was able to avoid the mess (ironically because he said he wanted to stay well clear of Tony Stewart because of the Bristol incident) and pull off perhaps his last win in a Roush car (although Matt is strong at Charlotte and Homestead, so who knows)

I have a hard time calling what happened in Dega racing. That being said I do enjoy a good demolition derby but can't see how a derby should be part of a championship run.

I don't understand why the tandem thing was so bad, they actually raced with them.

Guess that just falls in the same category of regrinding bristol to make it a 1 line track to increase crashes. Gladiator combat made modern.

I'm going to repost what I said here in October of 2010:-

We need a new term, one that doesn't include the word 'racing' for the activity that goes on at the restrictor-plate tracks, Daytona and Talladega.

It's definitely competition, there's great skill involved, and it's interesting to watch, but I have difficulty thinking of it as 'racing'.

Who can come up with the best new name?

BTW, Kenseth was good all day and deserved the win.

Junior backed off his comments from yesterday, and said he wished he had thought a little more before he spoke! He also pointed out the fact that the 2013 car is quite a bit different and hopes that will change the racing that has become common place at the plate tracks. As for the racing and ultimately the wrecks that happen there, nobody is putting a gun to the drivers heads and making them all of a sudden go 4 wide and bumpdraft through the turns and block 4 lanes at once. (That quote was taken from Dave Moody) These guys can go 450 miles and have lead changes and avoid wrecking, they just need to figure out some common ground to get through the last 50 miles. Which is going to be hard to do. if not impossible!

And myself I would much rather the pack then tandem. I did not enjoy that at all. But thats just my opinion
