Here is a link to a series of blog posts by Peter Rukavina describing how he got his cousin Sergii set up with high speed internet service in Green Meadows PEI. Green Meadows is in the Mount Stewart/St Peter's Bay area.

I found this very informative.

I use the Rural Wireless provided by Bell Aliant/Bell Mobility, the MiFi.. I recently got a call indicating that DSL is available.

If I bundle High Speed with Telephone $69/mo for 2yrs or $44.95/mo on a 2 year contract for just the DSL. I was told the Stand-Alone rate for DSL after the 2 year contract (2yr contract for home DSL is Ghey) will be $68/mo plus a $10 High speed access fee plus taxes. $78/mo plus tax. What a Rip off!! Sweden gets their 100/100 for $15/mo. Korea, China, hell even in the States Internet is cheaper.

Oh BTW IMO, 7M down and 640K up is BS and barely qualifies for high speed. How about changing it up a bit and make more useful, a 5 and 2 (5M down | 2M up) connection. With the MiFi, when it was working properly, I was getting 4M down and 4M up.. Sometimes 5M, sometimes 3M...

Well, if your DSL from Bell Aliant is anything like mine, you will be getting 1.53 MB download, .48 MB upload with frequent drops of service. I agree the level of service is not very good. I was told the infrastructure will have to be replaced in order for me to get better service. It's frustating that 10 km from where I am you can get fibre op for half the price and much better service.
