Just wondering what's in store for the present Prince Edward Home (old PEI Hospital) once the new facility on Beach Grove Road opens.

It is my understanding that the property is located in the area, which was known as part of the original Victoria Park, which had stipulations attached. I don't think commercial development would be allowed, if that was the case.

I could see them tearing down the original older structure but keeping the newer part (the one closest to the Government Offices.)

Anyway it is probably the most valuable piece of property inside the city limits, so hoping it doesn't end up being developed by cronies of those in political power. However, in view of the "Plan B" TCH development in the Bonshaw area, it seems quite clear that government doesn't listen to the voices of the people.

Maybe we should be asking now before plans are put in place and we realize it is "too late" to undo them.

Wouldn't it be nice to see it as annexed by Victoria Park?

When did governments start respecting old laws? Changing laws is what they do.

If it is to be reserved for use by 'the people' they had better go into action soon.

...with it's own intersection and traffic lights.

i agree completely. Weren't the train tracks supposed to be sold back to the farmers whose fields they went through, but instead they made the confederation trail?

and i believe there is an old law that says all events held at victoria park were to be free of charge to public, but i think that law has been broken at least once when the original jack frost festival was located there with admission charged.
