Do any of you know of any photography classes/workshops. I don't mean 2 years at Holland College, I just mean a workshop under 400. Thanks!

Not sure if they still offer it but Holland College used to offer a photography bootcamp.

I was the instructor for the boot camp; I took a year off, so no, it's not happening this year. Perhaps 2014.

Holland College may have an evening course in the fall/winter, though.

Depending on where you live, Paul Arsenault in Summerside is offering a photography course. I think it is a basic course for beginners.
You can probably message him through the Redsands Photography club on Facebook.

The Community School insert should be in the Guardian some time in the next month or so.

Some of the CS's offer basic photog classes.

Only a few run in the fall tho - most start in Jan.

It's around $15 for 10 classes - and generally some sort of light lunch is served at break. When I was involved with them - one or two classes - rotating - were responsible each week.

They are a lot of fun - and a good way to meet new like minded friends.

Link here for last fall - http://peicommunityschools.com/course-c ... 2011-2012/

Or maybe this fall - the dates are confusing - looks like someone just copy pasted a bunch of stuff from last year.

Phil

I just finished taking a couple of courses with Oliver Childs in Kensington, whom we found through Red Sands Photography Club in Summerside. The intro was 3 hrs one night a week for 8 weeks, I think. The 2nd course was 4hrs one night a week (field trips every class, so it gave us more time) for six weeks. Very reasonably priced, and Oliver is a lot of fun.

You can message me privately if you'd like his email, or contact the photography club. Here's an old page I found describing his courses at his studio in Kensington, but it's the same kind of thing he's currently offering: https://www.facebook.com/theloftstudiosPEI

Note that *most* people had DSLRs, but a couple of us simply had high end point and shoots (where you could adjust the manual settings) and we did just fine, even if there were a couple of things we couldn't quite do. But you would want a camera that at least lets you shoot in a manual mode to get the most out of the course.

Paul Arsenault is offering one in January in Summerside. I took a course from him in the fall and it was pretty good.

I've been asked several times in the last week and I will now be offering classes, lessons & workshops with extremely small class sizes at affordable prices and flexible schedules.
I believe that small group sizes means more focus on your individual needs.

I would prefer to do one-on-one private lessons based on what you want to learn and what you need to understand about your equipment.
Lessons are tailored to you, your equipment and bringing out your inner artist.

My studio is in downtown Charlottetown. I've spent the last two years working in Mexico at a major newspaper, magazine and working with popular businesses.
I've been slowly setting up, and getting the website updated.

You can send me a PM here or find my phone number on the website

http://www.dynamicartists.ca

Hope to meet everyone interested!

Portrait, Landscape, Street, Product, Editorial, Fashion, Sports, Macro, Time-Lapse, Video and everything in between. If you want to learn it, I can show you and inspire you.

Photography basics

- Understanding your camera
- Understanding what makes a great photo
- Understanding how to use YOUR camera to capture great photos
- Helping you find and develop your inner artist
- Understanding light and how to light

Intermediate Skills

- Advanced understanding of your cameras abilities
- Lighting techniques
- Conceptualizing a shot before you touch the shutter release
- Photography as a business
- Post processing, understanding Lightroom and Photoshop

And much more.
