My brother in law came over to PEI this past week end and played 9 holes there on Saturday.

He said that they never asked him anything about membership and he didn't bring it up because he wanted to play.

Anybody know if it was a fluke, an early season thing, or have they opened up to the public?

I believe they have been opened to the public for a few years.
There are struggling badly for membership so I think they will take anything they can get.
The general public can even buy package deals from what I'm told.

LOL. To set the record straight, (I don't usually bother, but only because I hold an interest in the industry), Belvedere has always been an open to the public, a semi-private club since 1902 - which provides for play from non-members during the golf season. You just cannot vote at the annual meeting or challenge for club ch'ships.

Actually, Belvedere is not struggling any more then anyone else in the industry. In fact, they were one of only a couple of golf courses to return a profit last year.

The general public can purchase full memberships, junior memberships, intermediate memberships, restricted memberships, corporate passes, or player packages (of 20 eighteen full rounds or 30 nines). Of course, the public can purchase daily greens fees as well.

The food is hot. The beer is cold. All PEIINFO members (well, almost all) would be warmly greeted and are welcome.

alandla, tell your bro in law to come back again soon. The back nine is a bit tougher.

In other words they are struggling. Just like pretty much every course on the Island.

Well good to hear and I think that they should advertise that a bit more :D

I know a lot of my friends had never even looked into playing there because of the misunderstanding. Even today I went to the web site to find out the green fees for a day and I couldn't find anything, although I have now found references to their green fees on other golf sites but I would usually go to the source for that info.

Didn't they have some pretty bad damage to the course a few years back?

I've always wanted to give it a try so it's great to know that I can.

Thanks for the info.
