That all depends on the content of the ebook

The Kobo is $20 off at Chapters, now $129 instead of $149. A great price for a very good device. (This is even the wireless version.)

Of course, if you want something multi-functional,the smaller version of my crazy ereader is now at Tiger Direct for $249 (they were $400 when they came out, but this is a much more reasonable price):

My husband asked for a Kobo for Christmas. He says he really likes it and has downloaded quite a few books onto it. That being said, I have NEVER seen him read it. It lays on his bedside table beside the paperback book he DOES read every night.

Did you ask him what it is he likes about it and perhaps he reads it when you are not around?

No. He only reads at night before he goes to bed. He choose the Kobo because he liked the fact that the screen is very gentle on the eyes. It looks a lot more like a printed page than a computer monitor. He also like that he can download wireless. I think he mostly likes the Kobo because he likes gadgets. He enjoys technology and trying out new things.

I have tried to read on it but I am a very fast reader and I find the wait, even though it is only a fraction of a second, as I turn 'pages' annoying. It slows my reading down. I also find it annoying to 'turn' at every single page. When I read a book two pages are in front of me.

But I have a friend to travels in her job and is a voracious reader. She loves the fact that she doesn't have to pack a dozen heavy books.

For me I like the visceral feel and even smell of an old fashioned book. I like flying through it and then putting it on my shelf with other books I have loved.

Besides I can drop my books in the bathtub and then dry them out. I don't think a Kobo would like that!

Ok, this might sound like a silly question, but humour me please. LOL!
Is there a program that you can put on a PC to be able to display eBooks? Reason being... there is a book in a series that I love, and it is only available as an eBook. It's kind of like a side-story, but helps with the history of the series. It is a Mobi file, I think it is supposed to be for the Kobo. Any suggestions, besides buying a Kobo reader? LOL! TIA!!

Yes, if you go to kobobooks.com you can download the Kobo program for your computer. Then, you can purchase directly from Kobo and your books automatically download and show up on your computer. I've read a few books this way.

If by chance it's not Kobo you need, there are all kinds of other apps for reading on the computer. Chances are, where ever you have to go to download the book, there will also be an opportunity for you to download the "reading on your computer" app that goes with it.

So, I found out today that you can use a digital photo frame as an eReader. You can convert your MOBI and other eBook files to PDF files. Or if your digital frame doesn't read PDF files, you can first convert to PDF, then to JPEG. Either way, it is something that your photo frame can then display and use.

The public library now has ebooks for free! You just have to have a library card to get them.
