So... what do you say MRHS alumni,....should they build a new school?...or renovate the old one? Imho....build a new one,.... near the pool, Eastern Eagles complex and a new rec. centre(when built)..btw that's Douses Rd/Valleyfield Rd area. Think of your kids/grandkids,we're all getting older

NO. Not Poole's Corner area. Even more of a longer drive for those from Belfast or Murray River. There is nothing around Poole's Corner- and no space!! By the pool is definately the way to go!

There is all kinds of space in Pooles Corner. I expect it will go there.

Yep,....Pooles Corner is being suggested, closer to Morell and Souris, who maybe going to share the vocational facilities.

Best to build it close to the Eastern Eagle soccer field ... the TCAP (or whatever it is called now) and where the new hockey rink is to be built ... plus conveniently located near the liquor store!
And yep ... I graduated from MRHS also ...

Isn't it a little embarrasing to admit you went to MRHS?

Scary... I graduated in '82, the year the "new" wing opened. I have never been in the vocational studies buildings, but did get a chance to try out the new labs and gym. I know it was a tremendous improvement back at the time.
At the time they opened, our labs and vocational classrooms were considered 'state of the art'. It only makes sense that they are now 25 years outdated!
I personally don't agree with positioning a new high school in the Poole's Corner area to accomodate vocational students from Morell and Souris high schools. My personal opinion is that these courses are/should be taught at the college level, i.e. Holland College, and all schools, not just MRHS need to go back to the basics of education.
Having been 'away' for 25 years, with only a handful of returns to home, I don't know what the current status of MRHS is in terms of enrollment, capacity or the general state of repairs... but if a new school is needed, I believe it should stay in the Montague area. So, based on the replies I have seen, I am guessing the Valleyfield/Douses Rd area. I think it would help to utilize other resources, such as the pool complex, someone mentioned a new arena going into that area, and of course, the liquor store for lunch!!
