 Post subject: St John Ambulance NS/PEI Council - First Aid & CPR

The local St John Ambulance NS/PEI Council offers the following courses on the Island on a regular basis. Call toll free 1-800-565-5056 to find times and dates of the next course in PEI, or visit the website above.

Basic Courses

- Emergency First Aid (EFA). 1 day (8hr) course. $55 per person as of November 2006. Recommended for those with an interest in learning life saving skills but may not have time to learn more.

- Pet First Aid (PET). 1 day (8hr) course. $55 per person as of November 2006. Recommended for those with an interest in learning life saving skills for their family pets.

- What Every Babysitter Should Know. 1 day (8hr) course. $25 per person as of November 2006. Recommended for youth ages 11 and up. Provides valuable information on caring for infants, toddlers, and older children

- Standard First Aid (SFA). 2 days (16hrs) course. $80 per person as of November 2006. Recommended for those with a job requirnment to have first aid / CPR training according to Occupational Health & Safety standards.

- Enhanced First Aid (ENH). 2.5 days (20hrs) course. $90 per person as of November 2006. Ideal for firefighters, police officers, nursing students, youth leaders, or anyone requiring a strong foundation for future First Aid training.

- Marine Advanced First Aid (MAFA) 2 days (16hrs) course. $90 per person as of November 2006. Ideal for the recreational boater, professional mariner or offshore worker. The training meets Transport Canada's requirements found in the Seafarers, Mainers Certification.

Advanced Courses

- Medical First Responder (MFR) 12hrs pre-study + 3 days (24hrs) course. Approximately $180 per person as of November 2006. Ideal for firefighters, police officers, and other emergency response personnel.

- Advance Medical First Responder 1 (AMFR1) 12hrs pre-study + 5 days (40hrs) course. Approximately $295 per person as of November 2006. Ideal for firefighters, police officers, and other emergency response personnel working in isolated areas.

- Instructor Certification Program (ICP) 5 days (40hrs) course + homework. $395 per person as of November 2006. This course trains new instructors to provide courses to their employer, community groups and individuals with an interest in first aid & CPR.

Offered free in Grade 6 to all students who want to take it.
