New doula in town!

Experienced birth & postpartum doula accepting October and beyond clients for the Charlottetown area.

Please contact for more details and questions you may have.

DONA trained. Reiki practitioner. Acupressure Doula trained. Attended HypnoBirthing childbirth education classes. Apprenticed as a Midwifery Assistant.

What is a Doula? Doulas are an educated and experienced support person, who help guide you through education in pregnancy and support you through the birthing process and immediately postpartum. Non-medical birth support; we are there physically and emotionally for you.

What are some of the benefits of having a Doula present at your birth?
-26% less likely to give birth by cesarean section
-41% less likely to give birth with vacuum extraction or forceps
-28% less likely to use any pain medications and
-33% less likely to be dissatisfied with or negatively rate their birth experience
(Hodnett and colleagues 2004, updated 2007

Book me for a free no obligation consult, where you can ask questions about how a doula can impact your birth, and see if we are a good fit!

Do you have an association with a OB/GYN for when things go awry?

Do you happen to know the legal status of Doula's on PEI? I've heard they are outlawed (which btw I think would be ridiculous). Good luck on your venture.

Why ridiculous?

Let's make sure we have the onus pointing the right way. In a free society you need a reason to make something illegal. Which I have yet to hear.

I don't need a reason to promote something be legal. But since you asked... Even the typical rationalizations for bad laws, helping the poor, protecting people from themselves, don't apply. People would need a whole new list of rationalizations for such a law.

Doula's don't actually deliver babies, they're there to support the parents, and help guide them through the experience. Maybe you're confusing them with midwives? A doula can attend a birth in a hospital or at home.

I'm a birth doula, I do not catch babies. Doulas are educational, physical and emotional support in pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum. Many are trained with additional services (like I am a Reiki Practitioner, a Acupressure Doula, Babywearing Educator etc).

Doulas are NOT illegal on the Island. Midwifery care isn't illegal either, there just isn't any implementation or funding or Midwives (for example, you can fly in Midwife from Newfoundland for example, and her practicing on the Island isn't illegal)...but that is a whole 'nother cup of tea. To learn more about the current state of Midwifery implementation on the Island, visit BORN (http://born-pei.ca/).

Birth Doula is a woman or man[1] who provides non-medical support to women and their families during labour and childbirth, and also the postpartum period. The term can also be used to describe other supportive roles for other life events such as abortion, death and more.
