Had the burger from confed court mall ( restaurant name eludes me). Imo, there are much better burgers in this city. Sams, Black and white convience, Wendys, Mcdonalds, Burger king to name a few.

Watched the cook take the pre cooked burger out, fire it on the gril for about 1 min each side, package it up and hand it to me. Dry as sawdust, cold as ice, and just plain lousy.

Seems to me if your going to enter a gourmet burger contest, you should take some pride in your product.

Of course, I should have known better then to try a gourmet burger at a Mall food fair.

Urban Eatery I believe is what it is called.

I saw the list of places in the brouchure in the mail the other day and was thinking about trying that one as it easy for lunch. The food at this place is not usually wonderful for the price but thought like you if they are in the burger contest they must have improved but I guess not.

The burger description fits their usual fair.

A co-worker and I tried the Not'cha Burger from the Gahan House today. It was very tasty at first but we both found it to be so large that by the time you finished the burger you never wanted to see or taste another one.

I was a bit sceptical of nacho chips on a burger but they added a nice taste and crunch. The burger was spicy without being too hot and the deep fried jalapeno pepper is on top so you can choose if you want to eat it or not.

I have had 8 now. The Gatekeeper in Georgetown was hands down the best I had so far dollar for dollar.

The one at Hunters is at the bottom of my list.

But all in all, the vast majority are excellent.

I had Papa Joes. I found the Goat Cheese too strong for my liking.

You mean this?

I wondered about that as I can't eat onions but all restaurants must not be following that rule as Gahan happily served me their Burger Love burger without onions on Tuesday.

Went to the Big Orange Lunch Box for lunch, and had there entry, the RicFlair Donair .

It left me un impressed. Found the burger to be a tad dry, and the donair was a "slab of donair meat, which , I suspect was house made. It wasnt bad, but not great... hard to explain... Left me un impressed. I smattering of onion, ( must have been a shortage in the kitchen) and, no side of any kind.. not even a fry for 13 bucks.

So far, in Descending order, best to worst,

- mavors m-1 .... 9/10
-Cedars Eatery.... 7.5 /10
BOL.... 5/10
Urban eatery.... 0 /10.

Trying the M1 today.

The smokin fox at phinleys was a pleasant surprise although I felt like pickled ass after eating it. It was delicious but one complaint would be that it had way too much sauce.

I've had 4 so far and at least 3 of them didn't have all the ingredients that were listed on the description on the website.... but all have been good burgers... so I don't buy that they can't remove ingredients

The best of the 4 i've had tho by far is the one at the Rustic Red Water Grille.... it's delicious..

I had the royal bombay at papa joes and it was delicious. Very filling. Lots of toppings, lots of flavor. The resturant was packed on thursday and i couldn't believe how many royal bombays i saw being sereved around the restaurant.

They were relatively quick taking our order but it took exactly 27 minutes (i timed) after ordering to get our food, but i think this is about how long it takes papa joes pretty much any time i go there. The food is delicious, but if you don't go there often you shuld be prepared to wait.

Waiting for a meal is not an issue. Good food takes time to prepare. At least they didnt slap it on the grill for 1 min, then hand it to you like Urban Eatery.

Had the misfortune to eat there again today ... and, for my last time. Cold, dry pizza, and a salad that had lettuce, a few bacon bits, and 3 croutons. Avoid this establishment and save your money.

Apologies for going off topic... rant over.

I am becoming a fan of the pizza also. Tho there are many things I hate about Urban.

I do not mind cold pizza - nor do I mind thin crust. Mine was warm - tasty - and crunchy.

I saw LT's salad and it was a mess. And old looking.

It's a problem I have often found at Urban. The food for the price - is just not there.

My other major problem is checking out. Hit the place at the wrong time and you sit down with ice cubes on your plate.

Or you just eat it all while it is hot and then check out.

Phil
