Terra Rouge owner moving on to bigger things in TO. Usually that means can't make a go of it here. Like the thread shows the place is just not consistent enough.

Is Terra Rouge closing or just the owner leaving.

They closed very temporarily. They are open again.
There were two owners. Motershall is leaving for Toronto but as far as I know Pritchard is still running the place.

We are so lucky to have this place here. We eat there often and still every visit is special - atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and staff is knowledgeable about their food.

We enjoy sharing our food, picnic style and this is great place for it. Mushrooms on toast, beet salad, carpaccio, chicken liver pate, scoop of foie gras and bottle of wine is fun and tasty combo for a couple. We had leek soup yesterday, which I do not recall seeing on the menu before, and loved it.

Had the rib-eye there on Saturday night and the first thing that popped into my head was "Ponderosa". It seemed to have been pounded flat, which made it so thin that any heat was going to make it well done (not my med rare) and had quite a large portion of gristle.

It was unfortunate as the amuse bouche and the appetizer were spot on.

I tried this place a few months back with my 14 year daughters and we all were blown away by the fantastic food and overall experience.

My wife had lunch there occasionally and said it was OK but nothing special.

I still haven't given up on the place but so far it's a 65-35 experience for me.
