Unfortunately our 2 floored multi themed restaurant will not open as planned Mother's Day May 13. The delay is suppose to put us at an opening date of Father's Day.

For those who continue to wonder what will go on inside the walls at 189 Kent St.

Main floor: Factory Cookhouse and Dancehall - We are opening Charlottetown's first BBQ joint with a menu inspired by southern influences and will feature food cooked by smoker/slowcooker such as pulled pork, smoked chicken, ribs, brisket.

Lower floor: The Olde Lobster Factory will be a Lobster dinners style restaurant. Picture the kind of dinners you get on the North Shore with endless mussels and chowder, salads and dessert for a fixed price.

After 9pm the joint will be rocking with country rock hits until 2am via live bands and well known country djs. You can friend us on Facebook or follow us on twitter @thefactorypei . Thank you for your patience this project is a large undertaking.

I've heard mention of pulled pork eggrolls. These sounds delicious.

Some of us even might have had a drink or two at The Jolly Knight.

Mrs. K and I, along with two other couples, went to try out the Cookhouse last night.

I want to talk about the staff ... in a word, fantastic. Islandpride welcomed us and dropped by the table periodically to see if we were happy. Best of all from my perspective, he was seeking our opinions on the food and asking us to be brutally honest because everything is new and he wants to improve or remedy the menu offerings if necessary. Our table had a couple of comments/suggestions but overall, everything was great ... just as we have come to expect from Hunter's and the Globe. Our server Glynn was attentive, efficient and super nice ... she seemed to never stop smiling.

The atmosphere is just right. They haven't overdone the western decor and I love that they are using the "garage door" concept that is at the Globe.

And finally, the entertainment was top notch. Kim Albert & Faces were great. I love that the Globe, and now the Cookhouse, are bringing in bands earlier in the evening ... very smart ... the early entertainment allows an older crowd (with generally deeper pockets) more opportunity to enjoy some nightlife before the scene transitions over to the younger and more energetic crowd that seems to arrive around midnight.

We'll definitely be back (especially after the Lobster is added to the menu :D )
