I got them at Lee Valley actually, but there are other online retailers that sell MORA blades.

Thanks, am interested in doing something like this myself. Any particular reason for choosing a steel or iron guard over say using brass or bronze, should be easier to work.

Brass is easier to work than steel, that's why I used it, plus brass looks nicer with the reddish cast of the birch bark in my opinion.

I have used aluminum before as well though and it looked OK, you use what you have on hand!
