I'm in the market for a new digital camera but I don't really know much about cameras. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a point and shoot that takes good pictures, and 720p video. I saw thiscamera on CNET's holiday gift guide and I'm wondering if it would be a worthy camera. It has good reviews and the price seems great. Any other suggestions?

I have never been a fan of the sony point and shoots. Although competition in the market is getting much stiffer I would still go with Canon, Nikon or Fuji.

I've always been a fan of Canon Powershot cameras.

I have always been a fan of leo laporte's twit podcasts. Anyway was listening to one some time ago on which a viewer had the same question and he recommended one of the panasonic point and shoots, not sure which one though. LX3 perhaps.

Me too. Easy to use and they take great pictures.

FYI, I ended up going with a Canon PowerShot SD4000IS after reading some really good reviews. I just got it yesterday and now I'm trying to learn how to use some of the manual controls. Hopefully I'll get some nice Christmas photos this year!
