We moved here 6 yrs. ago for the cheap real estate and quiet lifestyle. We now own a home on the water with no mortgage, a lovely view and about 20 minutes from Summerside on the North Shore. A few things such as real estate property taxes and car insurance are cheaper. Other things are more expensive here than in Ontario: Food, home heating. I think it balances out.
We moved here when my husband retired so we didn't have to worry about jobs so much. I do work part time, but I make about 1/2 as much as I did in Ontario also working part time. I also have a lot less stress and a 10 minute commute instead of 45 minutes on a major highway in Ontario.

I used to bad mouth some parts of PEI small town living on this site years ago, I had a LOT of bad memories of being abused and bullied at school and home on the Island. I came back for visits again after a 12 year absence in 2008, and I was surprised about how the people were actually a lot nicer and more reasonable than I remember! I've since modified my views a lot, but all in all, I'd prefer to still stay away from a lot of my family, and some of the high school people I knew.

I moved here last summer and built a cabin just for myself and my dog. It took a lot of learning as I am a city girl. I find most men too needy for money and they try to sell me their crap right and left. My next door neighbour pisses me off by asking me for a free cig every 3-4 days by coming to my door. He cleaned the snow for my driveway just by going forward and backwards with his truck for $30 and some of the snow is from his driveway blowing onto mine when he cleans his every day. I find these people very uneducated and rude and lazy. I will soon fence my land and put up an entrance door. I live in Souris. I love the nature here. My dog is happy. I bought wood for heating and my cabin is warm. So there are good things and VERY annoying things. I actually would like your suggestions about this annoying neighbor. He also told me many things for why I shouldn't have a fence and if I do I have to put the fence I dont know how many feet away from the property line inside my land. I told him there is no such rule. I came here to own a little place and live peacefully with my dog.
