The Guild is thrilled to announce the fourth installment of its popular cabaret series. Hot Songs for a Cool Night will take place Saturday, April 20th at 8:00 p.m. Emmy-nominated composer Leo Marchildon will once again accompany a stellar lineup of Island talent while Renae Perry returns as host. With musical selections ranging from jazz to pop to standards to musical theatre, and fun musical games mixed in throughout the evening, Hot Songs for a Cool Night cabaret is a unique production that has something for everyone. Performers include Catherine O’Brien, Justin Simard, Melissa MacKenzie, Ryan Rioux, Brieonna Locche, and Ian Cheverie.

Returning to the cabaret are two notable Island talents Catherine O’Brien – a Charlottetown Festival regular and Artist Director of the Harbourfront Theatre, and Justin Simard who recently performed with the Lyric Opera Studio in Germany. Melissa MacKenzie most recently starred as Belle in the Fandango production of Beauty and the Beast, Ryan Rioux is a recent graduate of Holland College’s School of Performing Arts and was featured in Love & the Lack Thereof. Island audiences will remember Brieonna Locche from last summer’s production of Nunsence at the Harbourfront Theatre and Ian Cheverie from the Charlottetown Festival’s Kitchen Witches.

The first three installments of The Guild’s cabaret series have been tremendously successful and were met with enthusiastic reviews. The Guardian’s Todd MacLean says, “All the singers displayed passion, precision and, at times, rocking emotion in their solos that was just awesome to take in”.
