I need a step by step recipe for pickled beets??!!

I love them, but have never attempted to do them myself.

Equal parts sugar, vinegar and water.
Whole cloves, allspice, cinnamon.

Use small beets preferably.
Wash and boil for 15 minutes. Peel and trim tops and roots.

Pack into jars to about 1" from the top.

Boil vinegar mixture with the spices.

Pour boiling syrup over beets to within 1/2 inch of top of jar. Seal and process 30 minutes in Boiling Water Bath.

The amount of spices will be a matter of taste.
For a one quart beet jar 1 stick of cinnamon, 6 whole cloves and 1/2 teaspoon of allspice would be a good starting point.

Thank you! Any suggestions on the amount of spices? I really have no idea.
