Some time ago one of the girls at work (no longer there) brought in a cold dish with several layers of ingredients, and you used nachos to dip in and eat. I am pretty sure one layer was cream cheese, and another layer had cold cooked hamburger (the only time I have ever liked cold hamburger) It was fantastic and would love to find the recipe if anyone has it.

thanks

I think you are referring to 7 layer dip.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven-layer_dip

Search the internet and most recipes will be the same for it except you use local types of salsa etc. Most of them won't have ground beef but you can cook some ground beef with taco seasoning and use it for one of the layers.

sorry, the one ate definitely had cream cheese on bottom. it was thick but not overly spicy, just a great combo. Will check on line too...great idea

You may be talking about what the locals call Walkin' Nachos. You can buy a nacho dip in the deli sections at the stores but they're gross because there's no cream cheese, taco seasoning or beef.

Base layer is one package (box) of softened cream cheese (room temp) and one small tub of sour cream beating together smooth. Spread on the bottom of a glass baking dish or your favorite platter.

Brown one pound of hamburger and drain. Add 1/3 - 1/2 cup of water and one package of taco seasoning (El Paso is my favorite but you may not want to use whole package, depends how spiced you like it). Cook for about 5 minutes or until water is absorbed. Cool slightly and spread over cream cheese base.

The rest is personal choice. I prefer to spread salsa over the beef, then top with sliced green onions, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar, old or marbled cheese. Serve chilled and with your favorite tortilla chips (make it several hours before for best flavors).

Here's what I use.
1 pkg. softened cream cheese
1 tub sour cream
1 pkg taco seasoning
Use mixer to blend until smooth, and spread on a platter.
Top with chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped green onions and end with grated cheese of your choice. Dip with tortilla chips and ENJOY.
