This book, written by Lawrence Hill, is a #1 National best seller and a book that was brought to my attention by a friend.

It is a story of a young woman who is taken into slavery from her homeland of Africa. The book follows Aminata throughout her life, shares her hardships, life accomplishments, sorrows, fears and joy.

This book will keep you wanting more and more.

While the book is based on fiction there are actually historical parts ie: The book of Negroes. The actual book of Negroes is a historical document located in Halifax.

The history of Lawrence Hill's story is a masterpiece to say the least!! :D

Lawrence Hill was a writer-in-residence at UPEI last year sometime I believe.
