Has anyone read this? I'm about halfway through and love love love it. It's set in Nova Scotia and is about midwifery and the hospitalization of birth in early 20th century.

It's one of Heather's Pick at Indigo/Chapters, so I picked it up to read on the drive back from Halifax. I'll let you know how I feel about it when I finish it tonight/tomorrow.

I liked this book, though it took me a while to read it through...I did look forward to picking it up when I could. Having lived in small town life, I understood the buzz about the older midwife and her protegee. It had the quaintness you would expect, and the fierce loyalty of women, when offered what they considered new fangled ideas. In another age, I would have loved to have been a midwife...I am a doula instead. I enjoyed the language, the customs and the courage of women of that time. A good read.
