Picked this up a couple weeks ago, though i'm not very far into it yet.

Its a book regarding "the myths, misconceptions and truths about the foods we eat". So far, it's awesome. It's written for the common folk, with lots of info but not so much you get lost. The dude is director of McGill University's office for Science and SOciety, and teaches courses with emphasis on nutrition and the applications of chemistry to everyday life.

He's not telling you to eat this, avoid this, but he goes over what we should look for in foods, covers misconceptions, and why you shouldn't take every study you hear for 100% seriousness (because there are a lot of contradicting studies out there!)

anyway, i just did a brutal synopsis of the book, but really, it's great. If you're interested in food, nutrition, myths and facts, pick it up! it's a great read.
