During the INDP Convention in Summerside more was going on then just electing a leader and the party executive, a youth wing was also started.

The Island New Democratic Youth (INDY) will have two clubs on Prince Edward Island, one in Charlottetown and one in Summerside. These clubs will be hosting a verity of activities to spark a youthful interest in politics and the situations that trouble our youth on Prince Edward Island. INDY will have its say in how the Island New Democrats shape their policy. INDY will help our in election campaigning, hold protests, and work toward achieving sustainable life on Prince Edward Island.

More information about INDY will be available in news papers, online, around town, and all over the island in the VERY near future.

all parties need a youth wing. Any political party that discounts the input or strenght of their youth is doomed to fail. I worked closely with the youth in one Island party and I can truely say, the ideas and energy they put forward is nothing short of amazing

I just noticed something in another thread...

Quote:
Youth delegates (age 14 - 26) free.

does this mean that I, who will be 28 at the end of next month, am too old to be part of the youth wing of the NDP?? I figured that I was considered a young adult until at least 30.. *L*

most parties had their youth wing go to 30
don't remember when it was dropped to 25 though, been over 10 at least. One of the big reasons being it is hard for someone 29 to relate to someone 14

~LOL~ true enough, and I'm gonna stay 31 from here on out
but for events and socials, its hard for a 29 yr old to attend something like a teen dance...same as a 15 yr cannot go to a alcoholic social

I was under the impression that most youth wings were 26 and under, I know that's how the national party defines youth, although there are exceptions (NB is 30). I guess a lot of it is how you feel--there are a fair number of people that at age 20 don't identify as youth anymore and therefore participate in other areas of parties.

Nice work, AndrewPEI. It was good meeting you this weekend. I'm looking forward to what kind of ruckous the yoot's bring. ;)
