Two candidates to lead the provincial New Democratic Party have only a few more days to solidify their support before this weekend's leadership convention in Summerside.

Party officials are predicting a good race between 26-year-old theatre manager Dean Constable and 53-year-old Michael Desroches, who works for the province's department of child and family services.

The party has been without a leader since Gary Robichaud stepped down in June 2005 following a cancer diagnosis.

Robichaud died a few months later. The convention will include a memorial service for him.

The convention will also feature an address by federal NDP Leader Jack Layton.

There is a feature on Eastlink TV right now about this. Vote now :)

Discussion is to be kept on track about the NDP Leadership.

It's a shame that it's only a two party system on PEI - I think what is needed is some youth in the front line - somebody who will be here for a long time -

Isn't that what they said when they elected Robert Ghiz to lead the Liberals

I think Dean would do good as a leader but some of his views I don't agree with.

I thought Michael made some good points, so I voted for him.

I also agree, Michael made some good points. Especially about the Racino and how he'd poll his members before jumping the gun like Dean would.

If Dean wins I plan on joining the party. A young person with a clean mind is what this province needs. I'd support a party that supports my generation and I hope he wins the race.

I think the party should be led by a big group of Lemmings.
