Users such as saherbal and Ex-racer have saturated the existing board with content that has so little bearing on most of us on PEI. What little PEI content there is is overshadowed by the endless soapbox posts and conspiracy theories. I guess if you recycle the same content enough times across multiple forums, it begins to seem legitimate.

I am suggesting this board "Political Debates" be split into 2 or 3 sub boards. Either:

- International Politics
- Canadian Politics
- Regional Politics (Atlantic Canada)

or just

- Regional Politics (Atlantic Canada)
- Politics

That way those that want to continue to "debate" international issues can do so freely, and the local stuff can have a chance as well. Any thoughts?

Good point and there should be closer attention paid to other types of saturations, like persistently going off the topic....

Thing was spelled right. A spell checker would have been of no value.

A syntax checker might have caught it.

This is great idea. If I may expand on it, considering how busy these forums are, we should split "Regional Politics" to "Downtown Charlottetown", "The rest of PEI (that, lets be honest, does not matter that much) and the "The rest of Atlantic Canada".

Does anyone remember when the Less Serious section was created for Long Ears and his buddy? I can't remember the friends name.

No, but perhaps the addition of a "Tin Hat Conspiracy Theories Club" board would address a lot of this.

 If you did this then you might as well label the sections 'areas with posts' and 'areas with no posts', as like it or not it would be a very quiet forum if saherbal and ex racer didn't post here. It would also be a much more civil and meaningful board if those who's total existence on this forum seems to be debunking saherbal's posts or out right insulting or bullying her, so on second thought it might be an excellent idea just for that reason alone.

So you would prefer a forum for tinfoil hat wearing nutjobs to spew their garbage but you don't think sensible people who rely on facts rather than moronic conspiracy websites for information should have the same venue?

People may find saherbal entertaining but the fact is she is mentally imbalanced. She is dangerous if you believe the crap she constantly promotes. People have DIED because of this s#!t.
But that's OK. Let's keep on laughing at people like her and put down the people who actually call out the garbage.

What makes you able to diagnose a mentally imbalanced person from their posts?
Here is a conspiracy theory for you-maybe Saherbal knows you in real life and is just messing with your head.

You are part of the problem.
I hope you are able to be so glib when some nutjob kills someone on PEI because of the looney conspiracies that are propagated by these losers.
Roger Bell was one of them and everyone thought he was entertaining too.
People thought he was harmless and attacked people who said he was nuts.

Like I said, you are a part of the problem and so is anyone else that protects these people from reality.

Where is your facts to back this up? Let see the names of the people that have died because of my post ? Let see any death certificates?

My claim is that you are suffering from CD. What is that you may ask.The theory of cognitive dissonance was first posited by American social psychologist Leon Festinger in 1957 to explain the discomfort and mental stress that we feel when our beliefs, ideals or values don’t match up to reality.
Indeed, 9/11 represents one of the greatest examples of cognitive dissonance in our own era. The public was so traumatized by the reporting of the events of that day that they have become emotionally invested in believing in the official account of those events.

When confronted on this subject, victims of cognitive dissonance will often become abusive and angry, lashing out verbally.

As a number of psychologists, psychiatrists and counselors explain, these responses are a natural defense mechanism when faced with something threatening to our world view.

If these symptoms describe you or someone you know, you may be suffering from cognitive dissonance. Those suffering from such dissonance might be conditioned to expect some form of medication to be available to repress these symptoms, but this too is a lie that must be confronted. In truth, the only thing that can overcome this dissonance is to admit to yourself that you’ve been lied to, and to inform yourself about those lies.

+1. It's the furthest thing from entertaining.

I've asked you this question before but didn't get a straight answer. How do you define a 'fact'?

To be more specific - how do you, personally, decide whether some statement, article, or social media item, is 'fact' or 'garbage'?
