Hello everyone I would like to get peoples perspectives on how their NEW Island Telecom's (Formally Route2) internet is? I was a Route2 customer for a few years and hardly ever had any issues and when I did they were fixed fast. Ever since these new guys took over its been down right dreadful. Very low speeds (all the way down to .03 of a meg), high pings, long dropouts and very poor service in general and to get a reduction is like pulling teeth. I know I am not alone in this matter because I have heard from a few customers that it's gone way down hill. Seems to me the owner is more concerned in overloading the system with new customers than actually fixing the issue (Been waiting months). So I have to ask the customers that have Island Telecoms internet how do you find it? Have you noticed it going extremely sluggish at peak times? How is their service for you?

Thanks

Did they change ownership or just take a new name?

Their hardware is may be due for another re-alignment. They had the same issues years ago around 2006-7 and they brought in the manufacturer's to align their arrays properly. They will go out of alignment over time due to wind/ground movement/settling of buildings/poles. Once that was done their network was good. If it is due to extra customers they would be stupid not to put up some new arrays as they will loose customers fast.

If you are not a customer any more then what's the question? What do you have now?

From the rest of his post I'm pretty sure he is still a customer, albeit an unhappy one.

If he is unhappy he should switch. We have it at the office and it seems fine.

The point of his post is to see if others are having issues or if its just him. If its just him then it helps to narrow down the problem.

If it was as easy as just switching then he likely would. Unfortunately for most this is the only "high speed" option available.

Also, keep in mind if your using it in an "office" then you most likely are using a business account which have higher speeds than residential and are also on their own network and hardware so that residential traffic doesn't interfere and slow down business accounts.

Have heard LOADS of problems with this joker. Towers down for weeks (2-3 weeks) at a time, with nobody even answering calls on when it will be back up. Owner fired everybody one day, only to hire them back a few days later. Fire Dept. had to rescue one of his guys off the standpipe. Lies and broken promises all around.

I personally am not a customer of his, and NEVER will be. I have heard too many first hand stories of this company, and all sound like a monkey fornicating with a football........
