I have been searching the web but can't seem to find an answer. I want to use an LG Reveal (Lotus in the states). It is a 'cool' flip phone and was excited to find one. Then went to Bell to get it working and was told that within a month I wouldn't be able to get data on it and within a few months wouldn't be able to use it at all because it didn't have a sim card. Know I am probably hitting my head against the proverbial wall but I really want a flip phone and I am way too young for the crappy looking flips they offer right now...

Soooo....anyone have any ideas ? If I get it unlocked, is there another company I can sign up with that doesn't care if it doesn't have a sim ? Help ?

I know that this was posted a while ago, and you probably have gone down another path since, but......

CDMA is the technology of phone that doesn't use a SIM card. Bell and Telus used to use this technology exclusively. Numerous years ago, Bell and Telus started upgrading all of their towers to HSPA and LTE antennas (the type that use SIM cards). Long story short...... it is a better technology. Neither Bell or Telus has sold a new non-SIM card phone in years (5 years+?). Features of this CDMA network have been shutting down slowly. It is just a matter of time before they shut off the entire network.

No other carrier in Canada uses CDMA. Long story short....... that phone is a paperweight.
