ok... so the name eludes me, but its something hand car wash.
went in here today for the first time. quite a sight it was. my truck was "attacked" by 6 guys, who: - sprayed it, - washed it, -cleaned the tires, -cleaned the glass inside the truck, -cleaned the floor mats, -vacuumed it out, - wiped the interior vinyl, - chamois it off -blew out all the water with air from the cracks and crevices -armour alled the tires.
price? 23.00 taxes in.
I was so impressed, i went back with my wifes car later on, same service, but 15.00
do not miss this place, check it out.
hours are apparently 8-6, 7 days a week, closed when raining or storming.
no i dont own it, im just impressed as hell with the place.

Let me know when the vehicles get "attacked" by 6 woman instead of 6 men. Perhaps then I"ll check it out.

It's "Tip Top Hand Car Wash" 17 MacAleer Dr 629-2992
I'm going this morning. LT when you say "truck" do you mean like an actual pickup or what? I have an explorer.. wondering what price they'd charge for it.

I went today and was pretty amazed with how fast they work. My midsize SUV was in an out in less than 20 minutes and that was including waiting about five minutes in line when I first pulled up.
They did an excellent job of the exterior and the interior was pretty good too. I don't expect perfection for such a little amount of money, but I think they would benefit from better lighting in the bay. It's hard to properly vaccuum etc in low light.
The service was excellent. I spoke to one of the owners (it's a couple from Montreal who moved to PEI to retire but decided to start a side business). Very nice people and seem to know what they're doing. I mentioned I had heard about it from this site and she was very excited and appreciative to hear of the positive review.
I'm sure this place will do very well.
One recommendation would be a sandwich board sign at either end of MacAleer drive to direct traffic from both Mt Edward and Brackley Pt Rd.

I have been to this car wash twice already and I am so IMPRESSED ! Claudette and Leslie (owners) are awesome ! To be able to have my car hand-washed, cleaned inside, windows cleaned inside and out, vacumned, tires cleaned all for ONLY 15 dollars. WOW. They did a awesome job. I thought it was a brand new car. This car wash is one of a kind here on PEI and you have to check them out. They are on MacAleer Drive between Brackey Pt Rd and Mt Edward. You will never take your vehicle anywhere else...I guarantee it ! A Very Happy Customer

6 people working 15 minutes = 90 minutes (being paid $9 an hour) is $13.50 of labor cost + 4% vacation pay and EI and CPP contributions be around 15$ for 15 minutes work.
With the cost of shop rental, cleaning supplies and other overhead hard to say how long something like this is going to last being that cheap...

I think it's a good idea, but i honestly just don't see how they can make a go of it. Having 5 or 6 people working there at all times, with only 1 wash-bay and only charging $15 to $20 for a vehicle. And as already stated, add in the cost of renting the shop, cleaning supplies, etc. I hope i'm wrong, but i just don't see how it can be a profitable business.

I should clarify that the wash bay holds two cars and while I was there, there were always two cars being done at once. While there might be as many as 6 people working on your car at one time for a minute or so, the five or six people working are doing two cars at once. While I was waiting in line a guy even jumped in my car and started doing the windows to get a headstart. My midsize SUV took under 15 mins for them to clean so I suspect the average small or midsize car would take about 10. The owners said they had a lot of experience in specifically these types of car wash businesses, so as long as they stay busy (which I really believe they will) I'm sure they'll make money. Being retired, their income goals may not be quite as ambitious as a person in a different situation, but they seemed to know what they were doing enough that they wouldn't bother if it didn't have the the potential to be profitable.

The time would depend also on just how dirty a vehicle is. I can weekly clean my car in fifteen or twenty minutes inside and out. But leave it a month and it can take two hours. Most people who consider having their car done do so because it is at a basket case state, with stained carpets a big consideration. Cant see these situations being done in fifteen minutes even with six people.

I decided to try this place this afternoon, and I was very impressed. The owner (lady) that I spent the majority of the time talking to, was very pleasant, and the guys did a great job. Oh, and to top it off, Tuesdays are Ladies Day...so i got $3 off!

I'm glad this thread got started.
I went today and they did an excellent job with my wife's car. I will be back with my own, maybe I'll get her to take it next tuesday so she can get the ladies discount! Well worth the cash spent, and Claudette is very friendly!

I wish they had this place in Summerside so I wouldn't have had to spend my evening cleaning my two cars!
