I always can count on a laugh from many of the restaurant reviews. They can slightly vary, but almost always include all of the following...

"The food is terrible and the portions are too small".

Does that translate to "The food would be better if there were bigger portions?"

Sort of falls under the build a 1000 bridges rule, most people don't go out of their way to write a good review, have a bad experience though and they want to world to see it. I am guilty of it myself.........as far as larger portions, I think the opposite, I really wish more restaurants had full size or half size menus.......portions on the island tend to be LARGE!

Too bad they didn't have better hours. Dad was there are 6:30 and they wouldn't serve him. They close at 7. Said they were out of fries. This is PEI . They serve homecut fries, how can you be out!

Personally I can never understand nor would I frequent an establishment based on a review when someone uses the words "yum" or "yummy".

Certainly they mean something when you are three years old, but when you are an adult, seriously, expand your vocabulary a bit.

yum·my
[yuhm-ee] Show IPA adjective, yum·mi·er, yum·mi·est, noun, plural yum·mies. Informal.
adjective
1.
very pleasing to the senses, especially to the taste; delicious: The waiter brought out a tray of yummy desserts.
2.
extremely attractive or appealing.

Sounds like a pretty positive word to me.

Real yummy? :)

You're right the descriptor says little - like good or great?

Some wiki ideas.....

http://daviswiki.org/How_to_Write_an_Ef ... ant_Review

After all, it is on the Internet and must be correct?

Maybe there needs to be a FAQ of Reviews?

I realize its positive. But how positive? A three year old will say a tablespoon of peanut butter or a teaspoon of sugar is yummy.

Does it mean good? Pretty good? Great? Fantastic? Delicious? A home run? Unbelieveable? Once-in-a-lifetime? Or just average? Or better then the slop I eat at home?

It's as ridiculous as "to die for". Stupid.

Presumably it is not 3 year olds posting in our restaurant review section so you could probably take the word at its intended meaning.

would you rather i said the food was awful?
It wasent , it was delish...yummy...excellent...
and if thats all it takes for you to not try the establishment...you have more serious problems.
seriously...try to act like an adult and not a three yr old over a word used in a review..

Were they closed part of the winter? There were a couple of times I or others went to go there but they were closed.

Perhaps it would be best to start a review about Skip's in the Restaurant Reviews section?

Delicious, excellent, those are comprehensible. I would just prefer to use an adult term in a restaurant review.

People who use the term yummy must also end an argument with na na na na boo boo, that makes as much sense as yummy.
