This truly shows the ignorance of the population to say another drug is no more harmful that alcohol or cigarettes.

They are BOTH harmful; 45,000 Canadians die from smoking each year - and the number is still growing.

Depending on the model used, the COST of impaired driving crashes in Canada has been estimated to range from 2.2 billion dollars (real dollar model) to 12.8 billion dollars (willingness to pay model).

Given the limits on the 1,278 fatalities figure, and adding in water-related deaths, MADD Canada estimates there are somewhere between 1,350 and 1,600 impaired crash fatalities in Canada each year (3.7-4.4 deaths per day).

Yup so keep showing us that there is no more "harm" than the others.................well done "=D>"

Instead of circling a fox, they got dogs to chase them and then once too tired, they caught the foxes on their sleds. It was awful. I reported it and that was years ago but nothing was done. What they did was parked their trucks on the side of the road with sleds on the back on trailers, then went to work.

Is the Island not recieveing transfer payments from the federal government? Does not Ottawa kick in at least a third on big projects? Why i compared the Island to Japan is because of Japans resourses. Japan has to import most of its raw materials and then manufactures products out of it.Then sells it to the world market.P.E.I has the manpower to this also,the salary range is also there.... ]]>

Richard Brown and his team have known for ages that even with the cable under the bridge developers see this as a non-profit situation and no one is prepared to go that route. They think if they spin it well enough it will happen. What they don't or won't admit is that private companies cannot run on a deficit like they run their gov and no developer is going to lay out $350 million to lose money just so Richard can make a press announcement.

I have to agree.Putting up a few windmills make the newspaper and gets a few faces in the press.There is too much capital needed to take this to where it is needed and profitable.The new cable alone is estimated at 65 million,which in turn will be at least 75 to 80 million.This is why i also think that most of our wind energy will be on the table with the H.Q. deal.... ]]>

Sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding drivers, a Police Officer sees a car puttering along at 22 KPH. Says he to himself: "This driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!" So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over. Approaching the car, he notices that there are five old ladies - two in the front seat and three in the back - wide eyed and white as ghosts.

The driver, obviously confused, says to him "Officer, I don't understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?"

"Ma'am," the officer replies, "you weren't speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers."

"Slower than the speed limit? No sir, I was doing the speed limit exactly...Twenty-two kilometers an hour!" the old woman says a bit proudly.

The Police officer, trying to contain a chuckle explains to her that 22 is the highway number, not the speed limit.

A bit embarrassed, the woman grins and thanks the officer for pointing out her error.

"But before I let you go, Ma'am, I have to ask..Is everyone in this car OK? These women seem awfully shaken, and they haven't made a peep this whole time," the officer asks.

"Oh, they'll be all right in a minute officer. We just got off Highway 189."

At noon I went in to pick up the salad. I gave him the gift certificate and he rang it in and said, "no change since it's a donation...enjoy your salad". He then took off and sat down with a guy who was sitting at a table. Okayyyy.

I went back to my office and opened the salad -- it was FULL of tomatoes. And not the kind you can pick off. They were the chopped up, mushy kind and I was gagging picking them out. (HATE tomatoes).

The salad was okay...better than a lot of places, despite the tomatoes. It had a lot of ingredients, but I'd have made a better one at home.

Got rid of a gift certificate at least.... ]]>

First off how do the police know how long you have been here.....do you realize how many cars and people are in and around Summerside from Alberta? Some that have been driving around here for months, probably people who just don't want to have the license switched more than anything.

Where were you driving with your ATV? To my knowledge driving an ATV on the road is illegal, more so I would think with a plow attached.

Wearing a helmet here is the law, the law doesn't exempt tourists, landed immigrants, or those returning home from out west.....again I can be out on my bike and just tell the officer that listen I just moved here from Alberta, you can't fine me.

Roadside check points are just that.....to find cars and drivers with infractions. If you are residing here then you need to follow these laws, not the laws where you last were.

Any officer nervous of dogs may just get a jolt when a dog approaches them, some more than others, over react? Maybe.....but do you know how many police officers have been bitten or near bitten by dogs?... ]]>

VANCOUVER — Olympic protesters could have their hands full if they attempt to disrupt the torch relay after organisers announced that Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger would be one of the runners carrying the flame.

The movie-star, who is now the California governor, was named as one the torch bearers who will help ferry the flame to the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics here on Friday.

A collection of different protest groups, who have demonstrated against the huge cost of the Olympics, are believed to be planning to disrupt proceedings to further hammer home their point.

"We are not worried about disruptions," said John Furlong, the chief executive of organising committee VANOC.

"If people come to express their views, we hope it's respectful and it's done peacefully. We hope that people who have waited 10 years to see the ceremonies will be allowed to do so.

"We have a great security team and they will determine how it's managed in and outside the BC Place (the venue for the opening ceremony)."

Schwarzenegger was named as one of a number of celebrity torch relay runners.

He will hand the flame to Sebastian Coe, the head of the 2012 London Olympics organising committee, while Canadan singing star Michael Buble will be the final runner on Thursday.

The torch relay for the 2010 Games has covered 45,000km, the longest domestic relay in Olympic history.

Furlong added that 10,000 people on Monday watched the relay pass through the British Columbia town of Mission, the home town of Jack Poole, the man who brought the Games to Vancouver but who died of cancer last year.
