MacKay misses announcement (285 Words)

So our federal officials are taking an airplane to travel 2 hours away? What a waste of tax payers money.

Do they fly from one side of Toronto to the other too?

MacKay misses announcement
TERESA WRIGHT
The Guardian

Peter MacKay wasn't on hand to cut the ribbon, nevertheless the Canada Games facilities planned for Charlottetown are well underway and are in full construction mode thanks to funding from various levels of government and UPEI.

Despite clear, sunny blue skies on Saturday afternoon, MacKay, the federal minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agnecy (ACOA) wasn't able to make it to P.E.I. for the official announcement of federal dollars earmarked for the games. MacKay was stuck in Nova Scotia due to technical difficulties with his chartered airplane.

This brought some measure of disappointment to the crowd of politicians and athletes present for the funding announcement. The group had gathered Saturday in the parking lot at UPEI in Charlottetown under a beating 26 degree sun.

"I'm not sure whether his plane really did have a flat tire or whether he's just a lot smarter than the rest of us and he's sitting by the pool or on a golf course," Premier Robert Ghiz joked to the audience before his official address.

The press conference went on as scheduled, however, with ACOA vice president Pat Dorsey pinch-hitting for MacKay.

"(MacKay) was to be here this afternoon, I can assure you Premier he's not on the golf course or beside a pool," Dorsey told the crowd.

"He was on a plane in Trenton, Nova Scotia, tried to take off twice, but because of mechanical difficulties could not be here."
...

Tex MacDonald, & the McQuaids being Sued. (275 Words)

In case anyone had any doubt of the close relationship between Tex MacDonald, the Premier's Office and the McQuaids just take a look at the recent credit bureau report.

Apparently Tex MacDonald & Cliff McQuaid are being sued by a local sign company for almost $7500 for failure to pay for commercial signs.

The interesting part to this comes on several fronts on the documents Tex MacDonald Lists his address as the 5th Floor Shaw Building, South Entrance, Rochford Street, Ch'town. While McQuaid's is listed as Doc Blanchard Dr.

The Real question is just what is Tex's involvements in the McQuaids business. Were we NOT all told it was Tex's wife that in partnership with Cliff McQuaid. Well Tex's wife doesn't work in the Premier's Office. Would the Coourt documents not be correct.

Just what is Tex's involvement with the McQuaids? Did Tex Lie as far as who is in business with the McQuaids? It appears it is Tex Himself , Robert Ghiz's Executive Assistant is in business with a local developers who has received on more than one occassion special treatment by this Government.

This is certainly the smoking gun people were looking for over the Traffic Lights in North River.
Now we have the Premier's Executive Assistant in a Direct Conflict.

The Obvious question I have is just who is in business is it tex or his wife and if it is his wife why is the Premier's Office Listed on the court Documents. Is the Premier involved in this? What did the Premier know about this? Does the Premier know what goes on his own office?...

Earwigs and June Bugs.... (387 Words)

"... these are a few of my unfavourite things!"

So I don't really know much about caring for plants - at all - but I have a flower basket that I'm attempting to keep alive. Well, I water it occassionally (when I remember) and umm, that's the extent of my care.

Anyway, I noticed today that the plants were starting to look a bit scorched from sitting there in the direct sunlight all day, so I thought taking it indoors for a while would be a good idea. And then I also thought I'd water it in the bathtub later this evening, because it's a lot of work taking water all the way outside ;).

So skipping ahead many hours later after finally remembering the basket had been in my porch all evening, I got down to the business of giving it some water. I put it in my bathtub, and a few earwigs crawled out. That grossed me out a bit, but I thought, "hey of course there are bugs in plants, it's nature! Just relax silly, it's fine" And then as soon as I poured some water on it, apparently I flooded the home of an entire earwig family. There were about 10-15 scurrying out of the basket and crawling around in my bathtub freaking me the hell out. Bleh.

As if that wasn't sufficient enough to give me the creeps, a big lumbering June Bug crawled out to say hello as well. That just about did it for me. At least I spared his life, I scooped him up in a plastic dish and put him back outside. But the earwigs met their demise in my tub. Well... maybe. I swooshed them down the drain, but they kept crawling back out. Ick.

So I left the water running for a while, and then put the drain stopper in. I'm sure they'll will be crawling out as soon as the stopper is removed, they're so wiley! I'm really dreading my next shower. 8-[

And now I'm wondering what variety of creatures crawled out while the basket was sitting in my porch all evening. Sigh.

Oh nature....

Strange Bright Light in Sky - Star? Satellite? (139 Words)

I am worried that I will sound crazy, but I don't know how else to figure this out other than to turn to you guys!

We live in a rural area just south of Montague, and it is very dark at night, of course.

For the past few nights when we look out the window at the stars at around 2:00am, there is a RIDICULOUSLY bright star(?) to the South-West that is very very bright, then dims, then disappears, then re-appears again in the same spot. We have noticed this for the past few nights and it consistently does the same thing.

I suppose this must be a satellite, but I wonder if anyone else has noticed this and knows what it is? It is driving us nuts with curiosity.

Thank you!...

A routine traffic stop by Cochrane Mounties has led to child pornography and voyeurism charges against a Priddis man.
On May 13, an RCMP officer who'd stopped a vehicle noticed evidence that led to an investigation by the Southern Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation team, said Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus.
The ICE unit then executed four search warrants that extended to Cochrane, a residence in Priddis and business in Calgary.

PEI Pizza closing early on Monday June 30th (233 Words)

Hey guys and girls,

It has been brought to my attention that a lot of people have been disappointed with us closing early on Monday June 3oth, as well as being closed Canada day.

I did get the numbers back from Friday - Monday, and they were almost triple what we everyone was expecting.

Besides Monday night, Sunday we were overwhelmed, as the sales that night were almost the same as Monday night. We had triple products ordered from Saputo last Thursday, and on Monday we cleaned Cash and Carry out of all the flour and cheese they had, and we still ran out.

I really do apologize for Monday night on behalf of the company, and I told the owner that it should not happen again, especially to our regular customers. I have suggested doing a customer appreciation night, and am waiting on approval to that.

If there were 14,000 people at the concert on Monday night, we fed a little over 5% of that mass of people.

Again, I do apologize for everything, but the owner is new to the business, and he like everyone else will make mistakes, and that's where I come in to make sure it doesn't happen again (one time is enough)

Hope everyone had a Happy Canada Day, and we'll see you at PEI Pizza.

Two guys, one old boy and one young, are pushing their carts around Home Depot when they collide.

The old timer says to the young guy:
“Sorry about that. I’m looking for my wife and I guess I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.”

The young guy says,
“That’s okay. It’s a coincidence, I’m looking for my wife too. I’m getting a little desperate.”

The old guy says:
“Well maybe we can help each other. What does your wife look like?”

The young guy says:
“Well, she’s 24 years old, tall with blonde hair, big blue eyes, long legs, big boobs, and she’s wearing tight white shorts, a halter top and no bra. What does your wife look like?”

The old timer says:.
“Doesn’t matter -- let’s look for yours.”

Us old timers are very helpful like that!...

The Pearl Cafe (134 Words)

We (4 of us) had brunch at The Pearl Cafe (between Rustico and Cavendish) on Sunday and it was soooo good! Began w/ Caesars, then went to omelettes or eggs Benedict, and ended w/ great cups of decaf cappucinos. All of the egg dishes were accompanied by fresh watermelon slices, sugared grapes, a small greens salad, and seedy scones. The quality of the food was excellent - w/ much of it local in origin. The interior of the cafe is inviting, warm, and nicely decorated - a very comfortable place to dine. We will be eating dinner there tomorrow night, so can't wait to try the evening menu. (Dinner reservations are from 4pm-7:30pm.) It's nice for us North Shore-ers to have a relatively new, fine restaurant nearby!...

Hurricanez (177 Words)

We went there for dinner last night. Hubby had the seafood platter and I had poached salmon with dill sauce, mashed potatoes and carrots. He had two beers and I had a glass of wine. Total bill was $55.00, which would have been okay if the meal was great, but really it was only mediocre, which has been the rule so far, not the exeption.

The service was friendly but not efficient. Our server didn't check on us until it was too late through the meal, I would have liked a glass of water with my meal but didn't see her to ask. And the restaurant was empty except for us.

The tea biscuits that were served to start were very good, and the mussels were very good as well. We got our food very quickly as well, maybe too fast really. My salmon didn't taste poached, but rather microwaved with only a tiny bit of sauce.

I think overpriced for what we got, better luck at our next choice for dinner....
